Description
Summary
Designs, codes, tests and implements complex database structures. Demonstrates the ability to work on multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously. Assumes an active role in the on-call on problem solving process as required. Participates in complex database designs. Share responsibilities in database tuning and DASD management.
Responsibilities
Maintains, modifies, and creates complex database structures with little or no supervision. Designs, codes, tests, and implements databases by applying knowledge of database design standards and database management systems. Designs and codes database parameters. Assists in research and implementation of new productivity software and techniques. Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database. Develops standards and guidelines for the database management system and supporting software. Demonstrates understanding of advanced DBMS concepts/vocabulary. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Comprehends instructions and completes tasks as directed. Meets predetermined deadlines set for assigned tasks. Serves as a technical resource to others. Reviews and gives advice concerning database CALL patterns used in application programs. Maintains a competent level of technical knowledge about database management systems, programming fundamentals, programming languages, and structured techniques. Demonstrates the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Performs project tasks to ensure that associated deliverables are completed in a timely manner. Participates in on-call responsibilities and assists or performs problem solving. Evaluates alternatives and recommends situations in on-call situations. Coordinates disaster recovery activities and participates in the design of emergency procedures. Creates documentation in accordance with tasks performed. Ensures written communication is accurate, timely and thorough. Adheres to accepted standards and procedures. Serves as a mentor/trainer for a DBA I and/or DBA II.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Level II:
Four year college degree and 2 or more years professional experience or 4 or more years professional experience. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred.
Senior Level:
Four year college degree and 4 or more years professional experience or 6 or more years professional experience. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred.
Lead Level
Four year college degree and 6 or more years professional experience or 8 or more years professional experience. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred.
