Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Java Developer with 3+ years of experience in enterprise and/or hosted applications development. As a developer in our core development team, you will work closely with a very experienced team to extend and support our industry-leading tax and reporting applications and work with the latest technologies.

We seek a candidate with demonstrable, proven expertise in Object-Oriented Analysis, Design, and Implementation, and with applied experience using Design Patterns. Broad experience in various types of databases, distributed, and web-based applications.Superior communication and collaborative skills. Experience with advanced Open Source technologies such as Hibernate, Spring, and Portal/Portlet technologies desired.

Job Responsibilities include:

You will be responsible for designing and implementing product enhancements, redesign of existing product functions, trouble-shooting and resolving product defects, unit and integration testing. You will be part of new technology and process evaluations. Active interaction with internal customers, other developers, Quality Assurance, Business System Analysts, Tax Research, Professional Services, and Customer Support counterparts is an integral part of the role.

Some of the key tasks you will perform include:
- Designing object -oriented and service-oriented architectures
- Programming and unit testing of code based upon design sessions with internal software users, customer-reported issues, and input from Business System Analysts, Marketing, Professional Services, and Support
- Unit and performance testing of design as part of development cycle
- Developing and re-factoring existing products, providing product enhancements and resolving product defects to meet customer issues
- Providing technical expertise and peer code reviews to other team members
- Providing architectural input on new and existing solutions
- Writing technical specifications, program documentation, and unit test plans for all work performed
- Maintaining solid relationships within R&D and with cross-functional peers
- Assisting in Quality Assurance process and customer issue resolution

Qualifications

Job and work experience requirements:
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of professional experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting products in an enterprise or SaaS environment
- Experience with full life cycle development: requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and acceptance testing
- Strong working knowledge with Object-Oriented Analysis, Design, and Implementation
- Hibernate and Spring experience desired
- Maven, CXF, SOA, Web services, SOAP, XML/HTTP, Servlets, REST, and HTML are highly desired
- Experience in UI frameworks and technologies (e.g. Angular, Ajax, CSS, JavaScript, Google Web Toolkit, etc.)

We are currently looking for Senior Java Developers in the Westchester, NY area to join its rapidly growing Global Services Consulting Practice.

As a key member of the project team this person needs to be very familiar with the Java J2EE development environment and tools as well as having a deep understanding of database and middleware technologies. Srong technical design skills and be familiar with OO design concepts and design patterns. Understand design and implement application data models using  Sybase along with performing code reviews and enforcing technical architecture standards.  You will be expected to code the application framework and architecture to ensure that the development team understands how to use these concepts.



Candidates must have all of the following experience:

Technologies: Core Java/CXF/ Spring, db2, sybase primarily, visual studio, eclipse, perl  .NET, c#, heavy WPF,

Business knowledge:  good knowledge of SDR (swaps data repository) is a plus, strong commodities knowledge a plus,

• Financial Services background and including exposure to real-time trading systems in equities, F&O or F/X
• Must have 10-15+ years of hands-on programming experience and designing and maintaining software applications
• Must have minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing high-volume, real-time applications in Java
• Must be very proficient in computer science fundamentals and their implementation in Java, including concurrency, data structures & algorithms
• Exposure to other relevant trading-related protocols (FAST, RASH, MMTP, ArcaDirect, etc…) are helpful
• Exposure to project work with CEP and/or distributed caching technologies helpful (Coherence, Gigaspaces, etc…)
• Previous experience with developing high-volume Java trading interfaces in AWT, Swing and/or SWT also a plus, but not required
•Must be current on latest performance features in Java 1.6
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be self-motivated and be able to work with minimal direction, directly with business users, operations staff and technology staff, at all levels

Mutual of Omaha's Individual Financial Services Division is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Data Management and Reporting team. The position requires someone passionate about growing their skills and making meaningful contributions to the growth of the Company. The Developer will be working in a data management and reporting environment supporting different sales distributions and product lines. The Business Intelligence Developer or Senior Business Intelligence Developer will provide data quality monitoring, data analytics and research, and report development for business units; provide technical and functional assistance in identifying, evaluating and developing systems, solutions, procedures, reports and analysis tools that are cost effective and meet end-user requirements; monitor recurring processes and ensure data and output accuracy and timely distribution.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Monitors recurring processes and ensures output accuracy and timely distribution. Responsible for maintenance, documentation, and enhancements of recurring processes and procedures.
  • Performs analysis and design by translating business requirements and developing reporting solutions that yield relevant business information in a user-friendly format by collecting, analyzing and leveraging data.
  • Assists with investigating, reviewing and analyzing data from multiple internal and external sources in order to maintain quality and understands the source structures and business relevance of the data.
  • Support Business and I/S teams with testing and implementation of new Business Intelligence tools, codes, and patches, and assist business customers throughout the conversion. Act as liaison between I/S teams and business areas by trouble-shooting and translating technical problems related to business applications.
  • Supports business data experts on select data repositories and provides support for project implementations and modifications impacting data repositories.
  • Develops and maintains current knowledge of assigned business areas, Mutual of Omaha practices, the insurance industry, and the business and technical environment.
  • Assists with training to peers and customers within the functional business areas on Business Intelligence tools and processes. Assists business partners in understanding the reporting tools to allow them to better access the data independently.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience working with SQL (either writing SQL or maintaining/reviewing/enhancing)
  • Experience researching, analyzing and problem-solving using end-user tools such as Microsoft Access/VBA, Oracle EPM (Hyperion/Brio), Business Objects Enterprise, and Crystal Reports
  • Ability to work with large data sets and interpret data
  • Ability to run and create queries
  • Strong analytical, communication and human relations skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2 years experience working in position requiring end-user analysis
  • 2 years experience in coding or query development
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge of the following tools: SAS, SQL Server, SSIS/SSRS, and DB2/UDB
  • Knowledge of Finance, Product, Customer Service, Marketing, Sales and IT objectives and strategy
  • Knowledge of project and process management and business systems requirements
