Description

The Thomson Reuters Enterprise Platform (TREP) integrates, distributes, and adds value to information from and about the markets. This includes real-time and historical prices from data vendors, exchanges, and brokers; real-time and historical news from the press, the web and internal analysts; as well as internal calculations and other forms of proprietary information used to support crucial decisions.

Through the APIs written in our group, our clients are able to access this wealth of information. They use the APIs to create their own user Interface, algorithmic trading applications, or any other analytical application for accessing the data. This includes real-time and historical prices from data vendors, exchanges, and brokers; real-time and historical news from the press, the web and internal analysts; as well as internal calculations and other forms of proprietary information used to support crucial decisions.

The API team develops cross platform (Windows, Linux, Solaris) APIs in Java, C++and C, which allows clients to publish and consume market information. This can be done through the TREP system or directly to Custom Feeds, 3rd Party Applications, or Reuters Direct Exchange Feeds (RDF-D). The candidate will be actively doing software development in Java to support the API product line.

Qualifications

Required candidate skills:
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of professional experience testing and writing scripts for API and infrastructure products
- Full life cycle development: requirements gathering, analysis and acceptance testing
- Strong working knowledge with object-oriented design.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Multi threaded, network, TCP, Multicast knowledge
- Performance testing, analysis, and tuning experience
- Proven strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills
- Highly accountable for meeting all commitments and deadlines
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal for technical and non-technical audiences
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Drive for continuous process improvement
- Windows and Linux/Unix experience

- Experience in performing ad-hoc SQL queries using Oracle or Sybase databases.

As a PTD Application Support Specialist, you will provide support for the Stream Ubix products in the Americas. The Application Support Specialist is responsible for independent and advanced customer support.  Day to day tasks involve investigation and resolving client issues, new installations, upgrades and any project specific to assigned customers.  The wide variety of responsibilities will also require frequent interaction with the Sales, Product Management, Development, Quality Assurance, Documentation and Professional Services teams.  The Application Support Specialist will assist global clients in using PTD products for their business needs.  This role is highly customer focused and involves managing and dealing with large global and local financial institutions, researching and presenting business solutions, problem resolution, the logging and tracking of issues and raising the client’s awareness of SunGard's Stream PTD products.

Position Responsibilities:
• Provide support on SunGard's Stream Ubix products for implementations and production support
• Answering client calls, responding to client e-mails, and logging new client issues
• Communicate with the client base by means of e-mail, phones, and Client Service Bulletins / Client Information Bulletins
• Work with clients to complete preliminary analysis on ad-hoc work and client requests
• Ensure that the client is educated on relevant Stream PTD products
• Manage client open issues log and work with client to prioritize issues
• Attend scheduled status meetings

• Experience in a Stream Ubix support or related role in capital markets environment either at a bank / broker or similar or within a service provision environment
• Strong industry knowledge of international capital markets specifically post trade, typically:
     o Understanding of various asset classes and properties – FX, Equities, Fixed income, Futures and options
     o Understanding of contracts such as futures, stock lending / borrowing, repos and reverse repos
     o Strong knowledge of trade life cycle including middle and back office processes

Duties and Responsibilities
As a key part of our UX Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the architecture, design and development of next-generation UX solutions for our Fortune 1000 clients. You will work closely with business and IT stakeholders in a collaborative, team environment to envision and implement modern UX software architectures that are of extremely high quality:
Work directly with clients first to understand, then to map business needs to technical solutions.
Assess existing applications and recommend approaches for modernization. Document and present solutions to enterprise architects and CTOs. Rapidly prototype and prove solutions using the latest Microsoft or other technologies as needed.
Collaborate with a team of senior software architects and developers to implement the solutions.
For our current projects, we are looking for engineers who have the capability and knowledge to develop UX for large, scalable and distributed applications; you must have several years of hands-on UX development experience, including:
  • UI layout skills with XAML, AXML, XIB, or HTML5/CSS, with strong template and resource manager structure
  • Strong pattern development skills MVVM, MVC, MVP and other design patterns

Job Responsibilities
As a key part of our Business Analytics team, you will be responsible for the architecture, design and development of mission-critical data-centric solutions for our Fortune 1000 clients.  You will work closely with business and IT stakeholders in a collaborative, team environment to envision and implement modern data platform architectures that are of extremely high quality.
  • Work directly with clients to map business needs to data warehousing and business intelligence solutions centered on Microsoft technologies
  • Assess existing data warehousing and business intelligence solutions and recommend approaches for modernization.  Document and present solutions to data architects and CTOs
  • Assess and recommend data warehousing and business intelligence strategies including ETL frameworks
  • Define data architectures for OLAP systems and large scale enterprise DW solutions
  • Analyze performance bottlenecks and recommend tuning optimizations
  • Rapidly prototype and prove solutions using relational and OLAP databases
  • Work collaboratively with a team of senior software architects and developers to implement the solutions
Desired Skills and Experience
For our current projects, we are looking for engineers with the capability and knowledge to develop large, scalable data-centric applications; you must have several years of hands-on experience, including:
  • Full lifecycle experience surrounding large scale data warehousing and business intelligence solutions
  • Up to date on SQL skills:
    • SQL 2008 R2 at a minimum, SSAS a must
    • Exposure to SQL 2012 a plus
    • Experience with large scale DW solutions (SQL PDW, Teradata, Netezza) a plus
    • Experimentation with NoSQL technologies and Hadoop Azure is a major plus
  • Several years hands-on SQL Server development experience including:
    • DW schema design, implementation and optimization
    • ETL framework design, implementation and management
    • UDM & OLAP design and implementation
    • Physical implementation, optimization, backup, DR strategies
    • TSQL, MDX, DAX
    • Advanced SQL Server features such as “always-on” technologies, scalability, audit and compliance
    • Design, develop and deploy SSIS packages
    • Design, develop and deploy SSRS and PowerPivot solutions
    • SharePoint and .Net development experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and proficiency in the following methodologies and concepts:
    • Large Scale DW/”Big Data”
    • Dashboards and scorecards
    • Dimensional/ Star Schema design
    • ETL frameworks
    • Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality Services (DQS) is a plus
