Job Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable platforms to collect and process very large amounts of data (structured and unstructured), including streaming real-time data using Cloud and On-Premise configurations
- Assess existing data management application portfolio and recommend approaches for modernization. Document and present solutions to data platform architects and CTO’s.
- Assess and recommend “Big Data” solutions centered on Hadoop and other NoSQL technologies (e.g. HBase, Hive, Pig, Cassandra, Mongo)
- Assess and recommend decision points for choosing and/or integrating traditional Business Analytics sources and tools with Big Data solutions
- Define data architectures for large-scale solutions including integration with existing enterprise systems
- Work collaboratively with a team of Data Architects and Developers to implement the solutions. Help grow our technologists and skills inventory through mentoring others and sharing what you know and learn
- Full lifecycle experience with related open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Linux, Apache, Perl, Python, PHP)
- Demonstrated experience of Hadoop and its related technologies e.g. Map/Reduce, YARN, HBase, Hive, Pig.
- Installation and tuning of a Hadoop cluster
- Experience with traditional RDBMS systems (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Configuring/Deploying Hadoop distributions (e.g. Cloudera, Hortonworks)
- Experience with real-time analytics, Data Modeling and Data Management, analytical tools and libraries (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Mahout)
- Hands-on engineering skills in the Cloud
- Data Visualization tools
- Experience with Data Mining and Predictive Analysis
