Senior QE and Automation Engineer - Big Data Platform

Cloud and Platform Engineering

At Netflix, we are building a big data analytics platform in the cloud by leveraging open source technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Pig and more. We provide a reliable platform that powers search and recommendations and surfaces product and consumer insights from a petabyte scale data-warehouse.  Tens of billions of events are processed daily and the volume is climbing rapidly as we grow our global subscriber base.

Our big data analytics infrastructure in the cloud is built upon open source technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Genie, and Lipstick. Particularly, Genie and Lipstick are projects open sourced by the Data Platform team at Netflix.

As part of the Big Data Platform team, you will:
- Help the team to stay at the latest and greatest releases of open source projects by certifying, testing, and rolling out new releases
- Stay in-tune with new features/improvements coming out in open source projects that we leveraged
- Independently design and implement key automation components for our big data platform
- Help drive best practices with development to ensure consistent delivery of solid releases
- Contribute and work with various Apache and Netflix open source projects

This is a great opportunity to enhance your cloud computing skills working with a number of open source platforms, and simultaneously gain in-depth knowledge of Netflix products and services.

Experience:
- 3-5 years of relevant quality engineering and automation experience
- Good Java, Python and object-oriented development skills
- Experience in JUnit, TestNG, Jenkins or similar systems
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures
- BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent)

If tackling these kinds of challenges and working on a large scale service enjoyed by millions of people around the world sound interesting, we’d love to talk to you!
