We are looking for a Sr. BI QA Engineer for our Bangalore office.

Sr. Business Intelligence QA engineer works as a project team member to jointly deliver high quality applications on time and budget.

The QA Engineer is responsible for the definition, implementation, and execution of the functional, regression, and acceptance test strategy on highly iterative and collaborative projects in an Agile environment.

This is a hands-on technical test position. Tasks performed will include but are not limited to test planning, manual testing, test automation, test environment setup/teardown, defect logging and verification. Works collaboratively as part of the development team with product managers, software engineers, and architects to define and execute tests throughout the project lifecycle. Familiarity with defect management systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop test strategy to determine the acceptable range for test results, performance and overall integrity for any size initiative.
• Develop and implement efficient and effective test plans including detailed test cases based on project artifacts, such as business requirements, functional specifications, source to target mappings, analytic specifications and technical specifications for Data Warehousing environments.
• Analyze/profile data to meet project needs, create test beds and seed test data using Structure Query Language (SQL), or by other means based on environment, to ensure complete coverage of business requirements, functional and technical specifications are met.
• Manage defect discovery and resolution during test execution; work with feature team lead to identify strategies and resources needed to fix problems in accordance with QA best practices.
• Exercise judgment within broadly defined quality assurance practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, tools and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Develop complex SQL scripts/validation scripts for Flatfiles/XMLs to verify business requirements and source to target mapping within the data warehouse.
• Work on problems where analysis requires in-depth research and/or evaluation of various factors. 
• Document QE artifacts/processes for Project including Plan Documents, Case Development, Case Execution, SQL Queries, Unit Cases,      Automation test cases, Ad Hoc Support Documents (ex.: Flows) Automated regression scripts.
• Management contact is typically advisory or negotiating in nature and involves exchanges of technical or complex information.
• Provide estimation of work in terms of schedule and duration.  Participate in project risk assessments to identify potential obstacles ahead of time.
• Responsible for providing overall day-to- day Information Delivery QA expertise and technical direction in order to support junior level Technical QA engineer in their work efforts.
• Lead the effort in identifying and selecting the proper tools needed to efficiently perform Technical QA Engineer tasks.

Assist the Feature Team lead in developing the project schedule as it relates to Technical QA Analyst activities, dependencies and timelines to facilitate accurate project schedules.  Follow the department software development life cycle (SDLC) and adhere to standards and best practices in the department.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar concentration, with Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience designing test strategies and approaches in accordance with business & technical requirements.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience designing test approaches for a multi-business & system environment.
• Must have 4+ years’ experience developing complex SQL scripts that validate business requirements and source to target mapping within the data warehouse.

• Hands on experience working in Linux/Unix environment. Good knowledge of UNIX commands to test Flat files/XMLs.
• Knowledge of Informatica ETL tool and Microstrategy reporting suite is plus.
• Knowledge of Defect Management systems ( JIRA, Bugzilla etc)
• Knowledge of Agile development methodology.

• Must demonstrate high degree of technical expertise with ability to design various types of test cases - functional, integrated, regression and end-to-end.
• Must have experience leading and defining test automation and performance testing initiatives.
