Description
With headquarters in Rochester, NY, Paychex, Inc. has more than 100
offices and serves approximately 554,000 payroll clients nationwide.
We provide comprehensive payroll services, including payroll processing,
payroll tax administration, time and attendance solutions, and employee
pay services. Human Resource Services include 401(k) plan
recordkeeping, workers' compensation administration, section 125 plans, a
professional employer organization, and other administrative services
for business.
- Performing comprehensive analysis and design for program changes to gain and to transfer knowledge of application changes. Reviewing and providing input to requirements documents. Writing design documents (e.g. SRS, SDD).
- Defining development tasks and providing time estimates to aid in scheduling. May assign and coordinate tasks of others. Monitoring progress against task estimates to provide status. Acting as a focal point to communicate department project activities and status.
- Sharing expertise to provide guidance to others.
- Completing more complex program changes to translate specifications and/or requirements into code.
- Applying application specific technical skills to independently produce deliverables (i.e. specifications, program changes, unit test scripts, documentation, etc.).
- Acquiring and utilizing more in-depth business knowledge to support the applications.
- Recognizing code, process, and/or standard inefficiencies and making suggestions for improvement, if applicable.
- Providing documentation to support program changes.
- Planning, documenting, and executing unit test plans to ensure all code changes meet requirements/specifications.
- Supporting programming changes during quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and post implementation to ensure integrity of application.
- Responding to questions, and researching and resolving issues to provide technical support for production applications.
- Under management review, conducting one-on-one meetings with team members and writing and administering team member project performance reviews to facilitate the project and to provide feedback to the manager to aid in the professional development of the team member.
- Complying with and contributing to standards and procedures to ensure development consistency (e.g. programming standards, change management, version control, etc.).
Qualifications
Minimum
of 5 years of computer experience are required (Associate's or
Bachelor's degree is preferred.). Consideration may be given to a
candidate with a degree in lieu of experience. Experience using one or
more programming languages is required. Candidate must be highly
proficient in the Java programming language.
