Entertainment has an opening for an experienced and enthusiastic lead
software engineer to join our Battle.net web team in our Austin office!
So,
what will you be doing? As the lead software engineer, you’ll be doing
exactly that - leading a team of talented engineers – to help develop
scalable and high performance web sites and core platform services.
This role focuses on server-side engineering and architecture, while
interfacing with front-end engineering and related design teams to push
the boundaries of interactivity, integration, and quality that Blizzard

millions of passionate fans every week. Our forums, blogs, character
profiles, leaderboards, item databases, etc., get millions of views each
day. Our account and payment infrastructure handles millions of
transactions for the StarCraft, Diablo, and World of Warcraft
franchises, for multiple regions around the globe. We work with every
other department within Blizzard to deliver a new level of engagement
for our global audience. We truly love our work, and we’re constantly
challenging ourselves to elevate our game with each new project. And we

Requirements
- Expert programming skills, including experience with Java
- A minimum of 10 years’ professional programming experience
- Strong understanding of scalable and high-performance server architecture
- Strong security knowledge
- RDBMS development experience (MySQL, Oracle)
- Excellent communication skills and strong leadership experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
- Passion for technology and video games
Pluses
- Strong understanding of Linux / UNIX servers
- Knowledge of SOAP and RESTful web services
- UML diagramming experience (class, sequence)
