Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a software engineer to join our very small l33t DevOps squad, as part of the Battle.net Web team, to help level up our massive infrastructure!  The devs are ninjas, and the ops folks are pirates, but for DevOps, our goal is to be more like Pininjarates.  The DevOps team is responsible for many things, but key responsibilities will be championing and spreading the DevOps philosophy throughout the department advocating ops-minded development, designing and implementing build-pipeline, deployment, and monitoring tools, and owning and controlling change over core shared libraries.

The ideal candidate is extremely proficient in full stack Java / Tomcat / Apache, and is comfortable with *NIX systems and operational challenges.  If you think that's you, we'd love to hear from you!

Responsibilities
  • Create tools to aid development efforts and assist in system monitoring.
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations.
  • Act as the owner of internal libraries and tools.
  • Create tools to solve problems and automate work that will reduce risk and help engineers make awesome products.
  • Interface with software development and operations teams to perform software and systems analysis, discuss solutions for new services, tools, and libraries.
  • Maintain availability of Blizzard services by building scalable, reliable solutions in diverse environments.
  • Collaborate with multiple development teams ensuring proper full stack designs.
  • Respond to production issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • A passion for Blizzard games
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Apache Tomcat, or other servlet containers
  • A minimum of 4 years’ of programming experience, including experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS
  • Extremely robust troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal
  • Able to work in a high-risk, fast-paced environment
  • Able to learn and apply new knowledge quickly
Pluses
  • Comfortable with Linux / Unix systems
  • Build tools knowledge (ant, maven, jenkins, grunt)
  • Experience with Python and Django
