The Thomson Reuters Corporate Technology “Platform Search Services Team” is responsible for providing enterprise search solutions for various corporate products. We provide mission critical, highly distributed and scalable search and retrieval platform that provides powerful search & retrieval services across many products.
As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges using modern user interface tools and distributed computing technologies. You will participate in the design, development and maintenance of various web GUI’s necessary for supporting the Search Services software platform (known internally as Novus). You may also be involved in projects supporting our Big Data and Elastic Search platforms.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Deeply knowledgeable on the latest Java UI software development tools and techniques
- Proactive in staying abreast of changes in the Java UI and open source web GUI communities
- Highly inquisitive and keen on experimenting with and applying new technologies
- Technically savvy in designing high quality software solutions
- Able to consistently demonstrate ownership, accountability & a “can-do” attitude.
- Able to work in a highly collaborative team setting

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide thought leadership as a technologist with expertise on emerging technologies.
- Interact with design and architecture team to research and recommend innovative solutions to technical problems.
- Deliver software applications that are lower cost, quicker to deploy, easier to support and more powerful than our current systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- 3 + years of experience developing and supporting Java based UI applications
- 3 + years writing technical requirements, design, and testing documents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills
- Ability to take ownership of multiple issues and project deliverables while continuing to deliver high quality results that are aligned with project schedules
- Experience with, HTML, XML, JSON, JavaScript, SQL, RESTAdditional qualifications (considered a plus if you have any of these)
- Windows and Linux operating systems
- JSF, Grails, JavaFx, AngularJS, Bootstrap, GWT
- Node, Grunt
- Jasmine, Mocha, QUnit, Protractor
- Python, Bash
- Hadoop, HDFS, Map Reduce, HBASE
- Elasticsearch, Lucene
