Mission: SunGard Global Trading provides the US and international financial community with a complete range of software solutions covering Trading & Order Management software (from Front to the Back office), risk management, an extensive order routing network, market data and other dedicated services. Position: As a Database Production Support team member, the candidate’s responsibilities shall include but not be limited to: • Manage, monitor and maintain all aspects of Oracle 10G and 11G databases on both Windows and Unix files systems in medium sized trading environment including, Development, User Acceptance Testing, Production and Disaster Recovery environments. • Maintain Oracle database RMAN and expdp backups * Manage Oracle ASM (RAC) partitions • Perform logical and physical restores • Test, apply and maintain functional and security patches • Assess and Tune Oracle database based on monitoring and application performance requirements. • Provide second and third level troubleshooting of problems related to proprietary Oracle schemas, stored procedures, report generation and batch processing • Manage Oracle licensing and support contracts • Responsible for projecting storage requirements, upgrade requirements, patching requirements • Creation, modification and troubleshooting of stored procedures • Modification and/or creation of shell scripts • Address alerts received from various monitoring tools or Operations groups following the required protocols • Support proprietary applications related to Oracle databases • Assist with configuration of monitoring tools • Assist Operations teams to ensure timely submission of daily compliance files and trade reports • Troubleshoot/Assist with Trade report generation/regeneration • Manage outages of Oracle, application or underlying hardware failures as related to Oracle; includes researching root cause, utilizing vendor support, and providing standard RCA for Oracle related failures. • Assist with enhancing and updating Operational procedures as related to the maintenance of Oracle • Strictly adhere to change control procedures • Take part in company on call support rotation • Participate in after hours and weekend maintenance work, failover testing, client testing. Required Skills • At least 5 years, preferably 7-10 years of experience performing job function in a Unix environment • In depth knowledge of database theory • Understanding of data and database security • Deep understanding of Unix operating system with understanding of how Oracle utilizes memory, CPU, swap • Experience with RMAN and expdp backup/restore functionality • In depth understanding of disk hardware architecture, RAID implementation, cache controllers, and disk load balancing • Proficiency with Oracle databases running on Windows 2008 Server • Adept at Oracle performance tuning • Ability to read and understand complex queries and stored procedure code written in PLSQL • Ability to write complex queries and simple stored procedures. • Good communication skills and flexible schedule • Solid understanding of UNIX, specifically but not limited to Linux RedHat and Windows 2008 Server operating systems • Familiar with reading and modifying shell scripts (Bourne, Korn, C, Bash Shells) • Familiarity with UNIX cron job scheduling • Basic understanding of networking concepts • Basic command line familiarity with FTP and SFTP protocols • Positive attitude and willingness to learn • Team player who is willing to collaborate with team members and other groups to resolve issues and meet business objectives. • Able to work in an exciting and dynamic environment where priorities may shift frequently • Must be self-motivated, team player, and able to immediately contribute to a fast paced, deadline intensive environment • Working knowledge of Window’s based programs Word, Excel etc. • Detail oriented • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Unix Operations environment in the industry • Basic understanding of Equity trading • Experience with Oracle monitoring tools such as Oracle Grid Control or Oracle Cloud control • Experience with Oracle RAC Additional Skills (Nice to have): • Experience with ExaData is a plus • Experience with Sybase or MySQL is a plus • Experience with UNIX shell scripting or PERL scripting • Experience with FINRA OATS file submissions and corrections • Experience with TAG/MSI or other Financial Industry clearing reports • Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish Candidate must have a flexible schedule as shift hours may change depending upon coverage requirements. Database Administration team actively covers the hours from Sunday 5pm – Saturday 4am US/Eastern.
