About this job
Job description
LinkedIn
has a diverse Big Data ecosystem that enables hundreds of data
scientists, analysts and engineers to extract insights and build data
products from massive amounts of data. These include derived data
applications like People You May Know (PYMK), recommendation products
and analytics dashboards.
Apache Hadoop forms the foundation of LinkedIn’s data ecosystem, with multiple clusters comprised of thousands of nodes spanning multiple data centers. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a world-class team to improve operability, manageability and self-service access to LinkedIn's Hadoop Grids. You and your team will drive engagement with LinkedIn's Hadoop user community and work with a strong customer focus. In addition, you will assemble the optimal set of tools and enhancements to core Hadoop to support LinkedIn's users. The Engineering Manager will work closely with the Grid Operations team to ensure stability, uptime and utilization of our Hadoop clusters, and lead our transition to next generation technologies like Hadoop2, YARN, and interactive SQL on Hadoop.
As a member of the Data Analytics Infrastructure leadership team, you will assist in defining LinkedIn’s broader self-serve analytics ecosystem by integrating storage and compute layers, data acquisition and management systems, and reporting and visualization tools.
