Job Description
Overview
As a Business Systems Analyst, you will serve as a liaison among Stakeholders, Business Unit Owners, Management, and involved IT and product Partners to provide strategic guidance, leadership, and coordination to support internal Corporate Applications used across HR, Payroll, and Timekeeping. You will support upgrades, configuration changes, new implementations, and day-to-day operations that enable Paychex Teams to achieve their goals. The role ensures the integrity, maintenance, and security of Corporate Applications and offers recommendations in areas that require strong functional and analytical competency.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, document, and test HR. Payroll and Timekeeping enhancements to support business processes, using best practice techniques.
- Provide subject matter expertise and understanding on following major functions to continuous support business for day-to-day activities:
- Hire-to-Retire processes, Job/Assignment changes, Onboarding, benefits management, etc.
- Timekeeping tasks i.e. Missing hours, Incorrect rate, Tax withholding changes, time policies per state, Time readiness for Payroll, Submission or approvals that prevent individual’s payroll etc.
- Payroll process tasks, i.e. Quick pay, Payroll deduction calculations, statutory and Regulatory compliance needs, regular end-to-end pay cycle related issues, etc.
- Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams, providing input to ensure project deliverables align with expectations.
- Create test plans and conduct functional testing to verify system changes to meet defined requirements.
- Identify, track, and resolve defects and anomalies during testing and post-implementation.
- Monitor system performance and suggest improvements to enhance functionality and user experience.
- Utilize tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA and confluence for issue tracking and collaboration
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to explain both Functional and technical issues across all levels of organization.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis using knowledge of applications, interfaces, and technology for defect resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science.
- 5+ years of experience in IT System experience, preferably in HR, Payroll and Timekeeping systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Interfaces with Business Stakeholders and IT infrastructure teams to Understand business requirements and write/create functional design documents.
- Strong understanding of HR, Payroll and Timekeeping processes and ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications
- Experience assisting with system configuration, testing and implementation activities
- Ensure technology solutions align with business needs and strategic goals
- Participate in QA process, development of test plans, assists in testing, training plan development and training, support for users, and developing user documentation (i.e., test documents, reference guides, etc.).
- Experience working within an Agile environment, contributing to story refinement, Sprint planning and Retrospective
- Evaluate current business processes by anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and eliciting requirements for change.
- Understanding the software development life cycle and related processes.
- Prepare business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.
Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $64,680 - $101,640. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
