Purpose

Be responsible for providing pre sales technical support, expert problem resolution, service implementation and training activities for all AIRCOM products and services to customers in Europe (airlines and Civil Aviation Authorities).

Key Responsibilities

-Maintain a positive, professional and constructive relationship with AIRCOM customers
-Provide pre-sales technical support to the Regional Account teams and the AIRCOM Business Development team supporting new business targets.
-Perform and coordinate customer implementation of all AIRCOM services ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
-Maintain configuration profile and customer data integrity ensuring that the customers can interface with all SITA entities whenever required. Monitor the performance indicators available to ensure that the AIRCOM QoS is maintained and define action plan with the customers if needed.
-Provide expert problem resolution to customers and the AIRCOM Service Desk, for reported p-blems which require further investigation or analysis. When necessary, work with airframe manufacturers and/or avionics vendors to coordinate the resolution of the problem.
-Work with customers to improve their aircraft operations by optimizing and expanding their use of AIRCOM services.
-Recognize additional opportunities for SITA and bring these to the attention of the product teams, sales and line management.
-Work with the SITA local teams to ensure close cooperation with the Regional Customer Service & Operation organization
-Deliver customer training for AIRCOM products and services
-Coordinate delivery of AIRCOM consulting projects for customers
-Participate in user workshops or meeting to validate customer requirements, confirm and negotiate technical specifications in cooperation with other expert team upon activation of a project, verifying adherence to requirements in delivered solutions.

Education & Qualifications

-University degree or equivalent preferably in Electronics, Telecommunications Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar
-Where applicable a recognised professional qualification is desirable.

Experience

5-10 years of professional experience in the Technical Support domain (preferably in the Airline, Aviation or Telecommunications industry: Satellite or Terrestrial VHF radio communications).

Knowledge & Skills

-Fluency in both spoken and written English, a second language (Russian, Spanish, etc ...) is a+
-Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
-Team work and well developed interpersonal skills
-Good organizational and leadership skills
-Knowledge of ground-ground based communications protocols such as X25 and IP
-Knowledge of ACARS air-ground based communications protocols
-Knowledge of aircraft avionics
-Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

Senior Developer - ATLDC Comms & Middleware

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to maintain, operate and develop key components of the SITA communications infrastructure. Participate in full lifecycle of multiple small to medium projects ensuring solutions developed are able to sustain functional and business and non-functional requirements. Accountable for the consistency of application code, ensuring any issues or risks that may impact project delivery are raised to the Development or Project Manager at appropriate times.

Key Responsibilities

Learn how specific products and solutions support SITA's business needs. Become a subject matter expert and authority on the design and implantation of these products and solutions.

Assist as required in scope definition, technical viability assessment and best practice solution design to meet the needs of the product and/or client. Assist in and, where appropriate, review time and cost estimates for specific solution design ensuring they meet product and business needs.

Ensure that change requests meet the criteria of the change request process. Provide accurate time and cost estimates for required changes. Where possible, provide alternative solutions to minimize time and cost. Work with customers both internal and external to ensure change requests meet the customer requirements.

Develop code and participate in code reviews and walkthroughs, ensuring that junior members of the team are able to develop code within their own capabilities. Liaise with partners and software vendors regarding defect/issue resolution. Where appropriate, provide guidance to the project and/or development manager in the development of innovative solutions that have a beneficial outcome to the product or application. Ensure all risks and issues that affect the project are raised following agreed procedures and are appropriately managed. Escalate risks and issues that pose a significant impact to project delivery.

Produce complete, clear and concise documentation to describe how to operate, support and maintain developed products and solutions. Be available to support these products and solutions when required by SITA. Respond to requests for assistance to support and maintain these products and solutions in a calm and professional manor. Escalate any production issues to project and/or development managers as appropriate. Assist in the analysis and evaluation of any production incidents, suggesting changes and improvements to prevent any repeated incidents and to detect potential issues before they occur.

Education & Qualifications

University degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or similar subject area.

Experience

Minimum of 5+ years software engineering experience in a software development or maintenance capacity preferably using a mainstream development language such as `C', `C++' or Java.

Experience of working in communications or airline industry would be beneficial.

Knowledge & Skills

Good Understanding of networking and communications concepts and protocols.

Familiarity integrating software with IBM MQ Series and Oracle Tuxedo products.

Sound knowledge of and ability to apply standard software development principles, theories, programming languages, concepts and techniques.

High-level designs for small to medium systems/applications.

Understanding trade-offs and risks with programming choices.

Strong estimation and documentation skills.

Good understanding of industry standard operational processes.

Familiarity with system and application monitoring tools and techniques.


Detailed familiarity with software development methodologies.

Good understanding of IT security concepts and their application to computer systems architecture.

Familiar with using SQL and stored procedures.

Comfortable using source code management tools & procedures.

Good appreciation of software and hardware performance concepts and the ability to apply these skills to tune and improve application or system performance.
