Location:  Washington DC Metro Area
Employee Status: Full-time
Travel: Travel within a 50 mile radius of Washington DC will occur on a regular basis
Start Date: Immediately
Clearance Requirement: Candidates must be able to receive and hold a Public Trust clearance at a minimum, with a potential need to hold SECRET clearances.  Ability to hold a TOP SECRET clearance is a positive.
 
 
Job Summary: 
The Senior Manager, Technology provides technical leadership throughout the lifecycle of a project, including direction on systems architecture, reuse, sales and capture, and development processes. This role is responsible for guiding the solution architecture, design, user interface, and technology integration of projects and interfacing with client technology and management teams. The Senior Manager will also bring their expertise to research and inform on enterprise-wide trends and provide leadership by leading and managing others along with providing general technology thought leadership.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate expert level proficiency in the various delivery lifecycles used within the government
  • Utilize deep understanding of package solutions and recommend when appropriate
  • Serve as a technical advisor and problem solver to clients and partners to assist them in optimizing their use of systems, applications, servers, etc.
  • Translate the client’s business requirements into systems design
  • Understand the steps required to design, develop, and deploy an application
  • Actively work with the account team to establish strategy for the account
  • Establish high, mid and micro level plans for project teams
  • Independently lead the estimation effort for a project
  • Identify and manage risk on project
  • Owns quality of the technical solution
  • An ability to act as a mentor to other technical staff
  • Prepare elements of sales proposals to represent Sapient's technical expertise
  • In addition to working on billable client engagements, may also assist as needed on pre-sales opportunities such as RFP responses, proposal delivery, architecture assessments, and technical qualifications
 
Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Eligible for U.S. Government Clearance. 
 
Experience Guidelines: 
 
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in leading or overseeing large technical projects or programs
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems integration, package implementation, and /or interactive design and architecture experience in which the systems developed/created must have been used by the end-users
  • Requires a strong understanding of complex computer science and software engineering principles
  • Expert proficiency in Java and OO Application Development is required
  • Knowledge of multiple other technologies including but not limited to CGI, HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, PL/SQL, Oracle Developer 2000 tools, C/C++, Perl, TCL, RDBMS, CORBA, COM
  • Expert in all phases of the SDLC
  • Expertise in developing complex Java-based applications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage client accounts and multi-task Sapient teams
  • Must have a general understanding of organizational structure, profit/loss, and best business practices in relation to current and future project/programs
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills to independently manage 30+ people, during multiple phases of the project lifecycle
  • Experience providing a vision to the total solution, managing a track of work and defining a comprehensive solution leading toward a common vision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills, are essential
  • Must have: Multiple large ecommerce implementation experience
  • Must be willing to frequently travel to client sites within the DC Metropolitan area
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required from college or University
