Responsibilities:

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle; includes communication with business partners to gather requirements, problem definition, analysis, solutions development, data conversion, development of test plans, documentation, creation of user manuals, and performance of migrations
• Design and develop enterprise level applications capable of supporting multiple points of sale on a unified platform
• Become a key contributor in understanding and interpreting sources of data as it pertains to Orbitz’s business
• Apply generally accepted programming standards and techniques to assure efficient program logic and data manipulation
• Work with and manage external vendors to develop fully integrated technical marketing solutions
• Work on and track multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, lead development projects, and manage timelines
• Work as a team player with solid communication and presentation skills and help interpret technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Participate in designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting systems and software
• Analyze and participate in reviews of software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Develop or provide work estimates based on analysis of requirements
• Consult with product teams concerning new features and maintenance of system
• Communicate regularly on progress of work products, deliverables, and overall project status
• Keep up to date with technology and present useful technology recommendations
• Communicate regularly or as needed with customers on progress of work products, deliverables, and overall project status
• Provide support for the live production site
• Consult with system engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of development experience or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of development experience
• Development experience with operational databases, JDBC, Oracle, PL/SQL
• Proficient with database scripting; including PL/SQL
• Data Warehouse experience; design, development, architecture, loading dimensions
• SQL programming experience
• Experience with data mining and cleansing techniques
• Development experience with enterprise level applications handling high performance, high volume, and high availability web applications such as retail websites, customer relations applications, or financial applications
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, excellent analytical skills, flexibility, ability to plan and organize, responsiveness, creativity
• Ability to handle aggressive timelines and a fast paced environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Experience in a rapid development environment with multiple dependencies
• Independence in completing tasks and multi-tasking capabilities
• Must work well in a collaborative, team environment and independently
• Familiarity and comfort with Open Source code and applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the travel & leisure industry
• Experience working with OLAP tools
• Strong working knowledge of and experience with LINUX/UNIX operating system and shell scripting
