tools, pushing the limits of cloud-based technologies, and powering our
explosive growth while improving the availability and reliability of
our services. As a Technical Writer, you will lead our efforts to drive
tools and best practices adoption by providing top notch documentation
for our products and services. While the majority of our audience is
internal, there are many projects with external impact such as Netflix
OSS http://netflix.github.io.
In this role, you will create and maintain clear, concise
documentation for Netflix’s internal tools and open source projects.
This may include elements like source code examples, user's guides, and
embedded help. You will need to have a strong computer science and
technical writing background to effectively execute project demands. The
team needs someone who can be a self-starter and interact with service
developers to get the right information to document. As the owner of the
technical content space, you will define and execute content strategy,
create the content and manage the content lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
- Define and execute content plans for each of those
- Own and maintain existing documentation
- Develop language style guides and formats for various content types
- Develop metrics to measure content performance
- Work with UX/UI designers to develop in-line help
- Support architects and engineers with developing architectural diagrams
You have these skills:
- 5+ years of technical writing experience - documentation for APIs, SDKs, components, and tools
- 3+ years of programming experience (Java, Python, Ruby, C++)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable with deploying and monitoring services
- General understanding of distributed, cloud based systems
- Proficient with HTML, CSS, Wiki formats, Google Docs
