Description

Summary

Provides multiple levels of support for internally written and third party applications, in a distributed, Windows server environment. This includes client accessible and middleware applications. Consults with clients, users, and other technical resources, along with vendors to provide reliable, mission-critical applications. Provides use-case scenarios to assist analyst and developers in devising workable application solutions. Communicates regularly with clients and internal teams on issues and project status. Assists with planning and implementation of new application deployments and enhancements. Conducts research and problem resolution on supported products. Adapts to rapidly changing business, technology, and competitive environments.

Responsibilities

Under close/extensive supervision, participates in the support of distributed applications, providing compliance with architectural and security guidelines, and assurance of quality deliverables for our clients. Reviews and provides input to QA test plans and scripts to ensure accuracy and thoroughness for the functionality being implemented. Supports solution architecture, implementation, notification, and post-implementation support as the product’s subject matter expert. Leads coordinated team efforts to troubleshoot application issues, which may include user, network, security, application, and hardware layers. Makes recommendations on issue resolution, and makes decisions on execution of resolution plans to minimize client base impact. Operate and maintain existing production database applications. Maintains proficiency in web application industry trends, credit card market business drivers, and client/server application security best practices. Seeks opportunities to stay current and expand technical expertise in principles and tools (browser/OS platforms, storage management, Web interface usage, security vulnerabilities, etc.). Documents procedures for new applications and client implementations. Responsible for meeting availability and timeliness Service Level Agreements of all client applications. Assists in post-implementation continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality. Works with technology and operations to determine root cause, define alternatives, and define action plan for resolution. Generate ad-hoc and standard reports using existing reporting applications. Assist in disaster recovery projects and events. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requires participation in on-call rotations, and some weekend/holiday work.

Qualifications

Preferred Skills:

Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of distributed applications on Windows Servers. Some applications to be supported include: IIS and Apache web servers; Tomcat; Glassfish; Adobe ColdFusion; Java Virtual Machines; SOAP UI; Connect Direct, MS SQL Server, along with internally developed and licensed applications.

Familiarity with the use of T-SQL along with relational database technologies.

Prepare and/or standardize documentation to cover installation, maintenance, and recovery procedures for applications, as well as, reported incidents and resolutions according to guidelines and procedures.

TCP/IP networking knowledge for connectivity and communications troubleshooting.

Understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning best practices.

Working knowledge of industry security practices.

Demonstrated ability in conducting Root Cause Analysis for system and application failures.

Basic understanding of scripting or procedural programming languages.

Level I:

Four year college degree and no related experience or 2 or more years specialized training or professional experience is required. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, network engineering, or computer science is preferred as is directly related experience in credit card or financial services, information technology, project management, or system administration/support field.

Level II:

Four year college degree and 2 years of related experience or 4 or more years specialized training or professional experience is required. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, network engineering, or computer science is preferred as is directly related experience in credit card or financial services, information technology, project management, or system administration/support field.

Senior Level:

Four year college degree and 4 years of related experience or 6 or more years specialized training or professional experience is required. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, network engineering, or computer science is preferred as is directly related experience in credit card or financial services, information technology, project management, or system administration/support field.

Specialist Level:

Four year college degree and 6 years of related experience or 8 or more years specialized training or professional experience is required. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, network engineering, or computer science is preferred as is directly related experience in credit card or financial services, information technology, project management, or system administration/support field.

Consultant Level:

Four year college degree and 8 years of related experience or 10 or more years specialized training or professional experience is required. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, network engineering, or computer science is preferred as is directly related experience in credit card or financial services, information technology, project management, or system administration/support field.
