Position Description

The Data Migration Practice Lead is the overall lead for the iWorks data migration practice whose focus is on the conversion / migration of legacy policy administration data to/from Compass.   On client data migration projects, the Data Migration Practice Lead works closely with the Data Migration Architect and Program Manager to articulate a scope, design, and implementation plan for the migration(s).

The Data Migration Practice Manager will have overall accountability and responsibility for:
Practice Leadership:

• Provide technical support to the sales process:
o RFI / RFP response
o Requirements analysis
o Conceptual solution visualization
o High-level resource estimation
o Implementation planning
• Drive the articulation of principles and standards for data migration
• Drive the development and improvement of standard methods for data migration, e.g. source to target mapping, audit / recon, archiving, information security, etc.
• Drive the articulation of success metrics and key performance indicators for the practice and for client initiatives
• Select and promote the adoption of core data migration tools and technologies
• Partner with internal staffing roles for Professional Services, Consulting Services, Hosted Services, etc. to ensure that resources are available for projects.

Engagement Delivery:

• Partner with cross functional teams such as business operations, Compass core development, architecture, etc.
• Facilitate the mapping of legacy data structures to Compass interfaces
• Coordinate the articulation of the estimation and resourcing for implementing data migrations
• Coordinate the provisioning, cleansing, and transformation of legacy policy admin data
• Coordinate the load of the legacy policy admin data into the Compass database
• Elicit and document migration requirements
• Design data migration architecture
• Prepare daily workloads for staff & coordinating the daily allocation of work.
• Motivate the team to achieve high standards and KPI targets.
• Handle new client enquiries and act as the lead of the workstream.
• Resolve problems and issues which arise.
• Monitor & report on standards & performance targets.
• Arrange & chair weekly team meetings, focusing on targets & achievements.
• Liaise and attend meetings with other organisational functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development
• Develop and understand practice goals and objectives in supporting wider team goals



Qualifications:

Required:

• Substantial experience of providing IT support for a variety of industries with a particular emphasis on process and data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Health Care Operations and/or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record for:
o Establishing a high degree of organization and structure.
o Prioritizing and managing many concurrent tasks and projects.
o Formal project management experience required
• Strong proficiency in the following areas:
o Data / Information Strategy
o Data Governance
o Data and Information Security
o Metadata Management technologies and methods such as Informatica Metadata Manager and IBM Metadata Workbench and Business Glossary
o Data Quality Measurement and Remediation technologies and methods such as Informatica Data Explorer and IBM QualityStage
o Data Integration and Data Migration technologies such as Informatica PowerCenter and IBM DataStage
o SQL
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred:

• Six Sigma
• Lean Enterprise
• PMP
• Insurance / healthcare industry experience

Additional Considerations:

• Overtime will be required to meet timelines and commitments.
• Frequent travel between working locations required, as is occasional travel for training and site visits.
