Position Description SunGard International Securities group supports middle and back office solutions in equities and fixed income on a variety of technologies via a number of development teams in multiple locations. We are looking for an experienced development manager to act as overall lead of the development group, and act as technology expert for the business. The role is a manager of manager position and requires the leadership of product development teams in the UK, Pune and Tunis. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated leader with a proven background in software development, probably within a financial institution environment and/or a software vendor. They will be required to develop and maintain highly effective and influential relationships with stakeholders across the business and with our customers in Europe and Asia. As well as deep technical knowledge, the candidate should understand modern development techniques, and be able to guide teams through the transition from old development methodologies to more modern approaches. They should also be a strong proponent of QA and be able to incrementally improve the quality of our development operations and delivered software products. Key Responsibilities: • Management of development team assignments. • Take ownership for timely and quality delivery of all product releases. • Continual assessment and improvements to software development tools and practices. Implementation of appropriate development methodologies (i.e. Scrum/Kanban) and best practices (e.g. peer code review). • Act as company spokesperson/evangelist on technology issues to clients and prospects. • Manage technology innovation to drive new revenue streams. • Maintaining and nurturing a cohesive, motivated group of software engineers. • Collaboration with Product Management to ensure clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria. • Reporting of product delivery status to senior management and other stakeholders. Position Requirements • Excellent leadership, ownership, communication, decision making, presentation and team working skills. • Broad-based technical expertise and a strong understanding of programming concepts, database design and system architecture. • Sufficient business domain and product knowledge to work effectively with Product Management, QA and other functions. • Experience with Java, C, Oracle and GUI development. • Understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and agile methodologies (Scrum & Kanban). Soft Skills: • Strong interpersonal skills – able to persuade others to follow your chosen course of action. • Ability to deal with strong characters and to resolve conflict. • Able to see issues from both a technology and a business/commercial viewpoint. Qualifications: • Strong academic qualifications equivalent to Upper second BSc and above or equivalent experience.
