Description
Summary Description: The
Senior BI Professional is a highly skilled tactical business partner
responsible for partnering with business users and Business Analyst to
understand business process requirements and functional design;
translate them into business systems technical requirements and
technical designs, and implement the reporting solutions using the Micro
Strategy tool. Understands requirements and identifies opportunities
for leveraging the reporting system. Coordinates and implements the
production-build of PRS reporting objects. Acts as a technical resource
to create new reports and delivery maximum benefit of Performance
Reporting to the business functions, providing them with information on
available technology resources to meet the business goals. Models and
architects new Micro Strategy schema objects and develops datasets to
enable self-service and ad-hoc reporting. Maintains existing project
schemas and ensures the proper use of naming standards and conventions,
as well as proper folder structures. Advanced knowledge of Micro
Strategy capabilities, new features and dashboards. Monitor system
integrity and performance to ensure quality data and availability for
end users. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define vision and objectives for business metadata
- Define the standards and practices for the capture and management of business metadata
- Align business data capture and processes and all of the diverse data usages across the enterprise
- Define and monitor the quality parameters of business metadata
- Design, develop, and deploy user content (reports, dashboards, subscriptions) via Micro Strategy Web and Micro Strategy Desktop
- Review and make enhancements to logical and physical database designs as well as optimization for proper use with the BI platform
- Ensure that documented BI development standards are followed by the BI team
- Assistance with object development, including metrics, templates and filters
- Provide testing process support Work with Business Analysts to correlate business requirements to domain entities and data elements
- Ability to understand and review ETL packages
- General Micro Strategy Administration tasks
- Document the roles and responsibilities involved with the business metadata life cycle
- Establish the metrics to monitor compliance to standards and quality
- Establish and communicate the process to manage the life cycle of metadata
- Conduct issue resolution and escalation
- Work with business units and IT to fund business metadata implementations
Qualifications
EDUCATION: (Minimum formal education the job requires)

Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: (Minimum experience the job requires)
- 2 -3 years related experience, preferably in restaurant industry
- 2-3 years’ experience working in SQL Server environments
- 5+ years of systems development and support experience using BI tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, Business Objects, OBIEE)
- 5+ years of Micro Strategy experience
- 1+ experience working with Micro Strategy Visual Insight
- Demonstrated experience modeling and architecting Micro Strategy schemas
- 2+ years’ experience working with Dashboards. Mobile dashboard is a plus
- Advanced understanding of data warehouse and transactional/multidimensional environments
- Proven Data Warehouse design / deployment experience using Star Schemas, reporting and analytics for enterprise Data warehouse implementations, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments
- Experience with Micro Strategy schema definition, design, implementation and maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well with the general public and experience in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, vendors, and co-workers
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
KNOWLEDGE: (Level of knowledge required to perform the job effectively)
- Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in HTML, JDE, ASP.net preferred
- Understanding of Analytics tools (R, Hana, etc.). Demonstrated experience preferred
- Working knowledge of source systems that feed BU solutions (e.g., JDE, WIN, CRM, etc.)
- Intermediate professional or theoretical knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities
- Basic understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures
- Intermediate understanding of departmental structure and policies with basic understanding of the cross-functional structure and policies of Whataburger Restaurants, LLC
- Provides significant analytical, evaluative or original input on specific technical or operational work activities, issues or projects
- Leads small teams, taking responsibility for tasks or objectives
- Performs work with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment and discretion
- Recognized as an authority
- Plans activities 6-12 months in advance
