Position Responsibilities SunGard is actively recruiting Senior Java Developers/Architects in the New York City area to join its rapidly growing Global Services Consulting Practice. As a key member of the project team this person needs to be very familiar with the Java J2EE development environment and tools as well as having a deep understanding of database and middleware technologies.  This person must have strong technical design skills and be familiar with OO design concepts and design patterns.  This person will be required to design and implement application data models using Oracle, Sybase and/or SQL Server along with performing code reviews and enforcing technical architecture standards.  You will be expected to code the application framework and architecture to ensure that the development team understands how to use these concepts. You may be the right person for this team if: • Hard problems are fun for you • You are well-read in recent industry trends and technologies • People come to you to help solve technical problems • You always want to be on the cutting edge of technology and use it to do things better • You put a focus on exceptional delivery for your clients Position Requirements Candidates must have all of the following experience: • Financial Services background and NY based, including exposure to real-time trading systems in equities, F&O or F/X • Must have 10+ years of hands-on programming experience and designing and maintaining software applications • Must have minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing high-volume, real-time applications in Java or C++ • Must be very proficient in computer science fundamentals and their implementation in Java, including concurrency, data structures & algorithms • Previous experience with high-volume, low-latency FIX and messaging infrastructure (MQ, TIBCO, etc…) strongly encouraged • Exposure to other relevant trading-related protocols (FAST, RASH, MMTP, ArcaDirect, etc…) are helpful • Exposure to project work with CEP and/or distributed caching technologies helpful (Coherence, Gigaspaces, etc…) • Previous experience with developing high-volume Java trading interfaces in AWT, Swing and/or SWT also a plus, but not required •Must be current on latest performance features in Java 1.6 or C++ multi-core support • Must be very proficient in the latest and greatest features in the Java language and the Java platform • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Must be self-motivated and be able to work with minimal direction, directly with business users, operations staff and technology staff, at all levels • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 10 years experience as a software developer SunGard Offers full time, salaried opportunities, a competitive compensation structure and a very generous benefits packages which includes, but is not limited to, a matching 401K program, tuition reimbursement, etc.  We are also proud to offer robust professional training and development programs which help SunGard Consultants to continually stay ahead of the learning curve.
