Senior Technical Program Manager, SNA -Mountain View, CA

LinkedIn is looking for a mid-to-senior level software engineering leader to work within program management in LinkedIn's Search, Network, and Analytics (SNA) team.  This candidate will drive our Tracking and Data Quality programs, which are highly complex due to their horizontal nature, impact to LinkedIn’s product development, and external reporting of user-engagement metrics.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated solid leadership in defining roadmaps, executing programs, and training employees to adopt new processes and tooling that he/she helped design.

This candidate is expected to perform using best software engineering management practices for initiating, planning, and executing large scale, cross functional, organizational- and company-wide critical programs.

This candidate will have an excellent balance of people, organizational, technical, and communication skills.  Interaction and leadership across functional lines through influence is essential.
 

Responsibilities:

- Own and drive process improvement opportunities and solutions across Engineering, particularly within SNA
- Interact comfortably in one-to-one meetings with individual technical contributors, senior engineering leaders, as well as coaching teams of engineers and presenting to large groups
- Have laser-like focus on project execution and ensure forward momentum
- Lead efforts to resolve project conflicts and establish appropriate resolution paths
- Manage dependencies between multiple projects
- Mentor individuals in best practices for planning and execution
- Develop strong partnerships with technology and business leaders
- Assess and mitigate risk exposure
- Manage resource planning

Requirements:

- 8+ years of full time program management experience within an engineering or technical department
- 5+ years of direct experience with process engineering
- Strong practical and advanced theoretical understanding of managing the life-cycle of multiple large-scale programs and projects, with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills; skilled at cross-functional and cross-organizational communication
- Strong experience and good understanding of software engineering practices
- Adept at proactive change management and training across all levels of the organization to increase adoption of new/revised processes and tools
- Exposure to consumer web-app companies preferred
- Familiarity with Agile methods and practices through multiple teams (Scrum and Kanban) preferred
- BS minimum
