Allegion is seeking a Senior Director, Platform Engineering & Reliability with deep expertise in Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). In this role, you will set strategic direction for our platform engineering and DevOps & SRE teams across a broad portfolio of product lines, responsible for defining best practices for CI/CD, observability, security, and performance. At Allegion, we are driven by a bold vision: redefining safety while empowering our employees to thrive. When you join our team, you become part of a culture that values innovation, purpose, and excellence. This role offers the benefits of our dynamic hybrid work model—combining in-person collaboration for meaningful moments with the flexibility of remote work. Since hybrid arrangements can vary based on the needs of the individual, team and business, your talent acquisition partner will provide specific hybrid details about this role.

We are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance and building meaningful connections, ensuring you have the tools, resources, and support needed to excel in any environment. Together, we’ll unlock your potential and create a lasting impact.

While this is the current structure and we currently have no plans to change, we reserve the right to make changes to the hybrid schedule as needed at the Company’s discretion.

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

What you’ll do:

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

Provide day‑to‑day leadership for global Web Platform, DevOps, and SRE organizations, including multiple Directors and senior engineering leaders.

Translate business objectives into clear engineering strategies, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps; create clarity amid changing priorities.

Establish predictable execution with program governance: scope, milestones, budgets, dependencies, and risk registers across all committed projects.

Instill an ownership mindset and accountability through clear goals (OKRs), dashboards, and regular business/technical reviews.

Engineering Excellence & Operational Rigor

Scale enterprise-wide SDLC practices across teams spanning coding standards, peer reviews, release orchestration, CI/CD, observability, compliance automation, performance, and resiliency, and—to ensure consistency across all product lines.

Own technical stack strategy: ensure the right technologies are selected for longevity, security, and maintainability; drive consolidation and deprecation of duplicative stacks and tooling.

Provide direction and oversight for architectural decisions (reference architectures, ADRs, design reviews); ensure solutions meet scalability, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

Dive deep when needed: read code, inspect pipelines, query logs/metrics/traces, and participate in design/debug sessions to unblock delivery—leadership is necessary but not sufficient.

Identify, mitigate, and track risks and cross‑team dependencies; maintain transparent risk registers and action plans with clear owners and due dates.

Set executive-level KPIs to drive consistent delivery tracking (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate), capacity planning, tech‑debt, reliability across roadmap and regularly report progress to the VP of Software Engineering and other key stakeholders

Site-Reliability Engineering

Drive the centralization and standardization of observability platforms (metrics, logging, tracing) to deliver end-to-end visibility across all services and infrastructure domains

Design and institutionalize the incident response and on‑call process (runbooks, escalation paths, blameless postmortems, SLIs/SLOs/error budgets) to ensure reliability and rapid recovery.

Stand up engineering scorecards and reviews covering reliability (SLO attainment, incident MTTR/MTTD), performance, security posture, and delivery predictability.

Ensure cost visibility for platforms and cloud services; optimize for efficiency without compromising reliability or velocity.

Forge strategic partnerships with Security, Compliance, and Network teams to integrate reliability requirements into broader governance and risk management programs (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2)

Cross-Functional Partnership

Serve as a key partner to senior leadership, providing regular updates on engineering initiatives, risks, and opportunities.

Serve as liaison between Product Management, Hardware Engineering, Security, Compliance, Customer Success, and General Managers (GMs) to align priorities, roadmaps, and ensure integrated, end-to-end solutions that meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

Tightly integrate platform engineering with application teams to accelerate product velocity and shared platform adoption.

Advocate for engineering best practices and innovation across the broader organization.

People Leadership & Team Development

Build, coach, and develop a high‑performing leadership bench; raise the bar on technical acumen, operational discipline, and ownership culture.

Create an environment where teams can operate with autonomy and low context while maintaining high accountability to outcomes.

Recruit, retain, and develop diverse talent; model inclusive, psychologically safe, and high‑trust engineering behaviors.

Improve team health with clear career frameworks, leveling guides, and technical leadership paths (Staff/Principal/Architect).

What you need to succeed:

15+ years in software engineering with 8+ years in multi‑team leadership (Director/Senior Director) across Web Platform, DevOps, and/or SRE at scale.

Proven record establishing mature engineering practices and leading organizations through change while delivering complex programs predictably.

Demonstrated success selecting and consolidating technology stacks; experience with architectural governance (ADRs, reference architectures, platform standards).

Deep understanding of modern web platforms (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, micro frontends, APIs), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, containers/orchestration, and SRE principles.

Hands‑on technical depth: ability to read code, review designs, inspect pipelines/telemetry, and guide teams through complex debugging and performance/resiliency challenges.

Experience managing distributed global teams and multiple leaders; strong stakeholder management with Product, Hardware, and Business executives.

Excellent communication and executive presence; crisp at translating between technical detail and business impact.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in physical security, IoT, or access control industries

Familiarity with embedded firmware release pipelines and OTA update mechanisms

Prior success in regulated environments (FIPS, HIPAA, or government/defense)

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Success Measures (First 6–12 Months)

Stack strategy defined and approved; consolidation roadmap with clear TCO and risk/benefit analysis in execution.

Incident response program operational with on‑call rotations, runbooks, and postmortems; measurable improvements in MTTD/MTTR and SLO attainment.

Architecture governance operating (design reviews, ADR cadence, standards baseline) with adoption across product lines.

Predictable delivery across committed projects with transparent capacity, dependency tracking, and risk management.

Improved developer experience and platform adoption metrics (build times, deploy frequency, change failure rate, lead time for changes).

Leadership bench strengthened, upward trends in engagement, retention, and performance outcomes.

Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack | Databricks | Vancouver, Canada

Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack | Databricks | Vancouver, Canada

Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack

Vancouver, Canada

Databricks is on a mission to simplify and democratize data and AI — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers — and customer obsessed — we leap at every opportunity to solve technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we're only getting started.

As a Fullstack software engineer, you will work with your team and product management to make insights from data simple. We are looking for engineers that are customer obsessed, who can take on the full scope of the product and user experience beyond the technical implementation. You'll set the foundation for how we build robust, scalable and delightful products.

Vancouver will be the newest R&D center for Databricks, expanding our presence in the Pacific Northwest. We are actively hiring world-class engineers to join us on our mission to democratize data + AI.

We envision the Vancouver site becoming a key driver of product innovation at Databricks. To start, we’re bringing a few strategic areas to the Vancouver site and we have several open roles across the teams below, including:

Log Analytics - Our customers increasingly use Databricks to analyze petabyte-scale logs in real time. This creates new challenges across the entire data processing pipeline, including ingestion, indexing, processing, and the user experience itself.

AI/BI - AI/BI is redefining Business Intelligence for the AI age. We launched this product last summer and have already seen tremendous adoption (98.7% of our data warehousing customers are already using AI/BI!). From rich dashboarding and advanced visualizations to powerful talk-to-your-data solutions, the products we are building involve exciting technical challenges across the entire stack.

Unity Catalog Business Semantics - Context is everything for AI. For enterprise data, that context needs to be governed and managed, which is what Unity Catalog Business Semantics offers. We recently launched our first Semantics modelling capability, Unity Catalog Metrics, this past Data + AI Summit but we have a lot more in store. Engineers on this team work at the intersection of large scale distributed systems, data modeling, governance, and AI enablement.

Databricks Apps - Databricks Apps is one of the fastest growing products at Databricks, used by more than 2,500 customers who have created more than 20,000 apps — and it was only GA’ed this past June. The Apps team is one of the few teams that are exposed to low-level platform components (k8s, networking), owns fundamental tech (apps runtime and proxy), and is heavily investing in app builder AI agents.

What we look for:

10+ years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Passion for user experience and design and a deep understanding of front-end architecture.

Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.

Motivated by delivering customer value.

Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or VueJs/Ember).

10+ years of experience with server-side web technologies (eg: Node.js, Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++,Go).

Good knowledge of SQL.

Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.

Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticpates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.

Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

How do you spark joy in hundreds of millions of people? It starts with a vision - that technology can give voice to stories around the world. In delivering those much-loved stories, Netflix is responsible for a significant portion of global internet traffic.

To steward that responsibility, we work collaboratively with ISPs to deploy Open Connect, Netflix’s Content Delivery Network (CDN), which delivers 100% of Netflix's video traffic.  Our team’s mission is to support that delivery by providing an automation and tooling platform that supports the internal operations and external partnerships needed to provide a fantastic viewing experience for all Netflix members.  We are looking for a talented software engineer specializing in infrastructure to join us on that mission.

The Role

You will be charged with handling impactful availability, scalability, and usability challenges and must self-define optimal ways to configure, manage, and observe our growing Open Connect platform. Our platform is a fundamental building block to our streaming initiatives - providing critical solutions for one of the world’s largest CDNs and empowering stakeholders to operate the CDN more efficiently and reliably. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work in a wide variety of areas, such as:

Implementing microservices to enable analytics, insights, discovery, and visualizations

Designing orchestration to manage many thousands of globally distributed appliances and devices

Building data models and APIs to help manage and maintain our fleet

Understanding the breadth of our multi-tenant platform, creating generalized solutions which can be leveraged across multiple domains - including networking, video, and gaming

You Are

Someone who likes to work hands-on and self-direct in a fast-paced environment that gives you great freedom and responsibility

Able to see beyond immediate specifications, can summarize requirements, and architect forward-looking solutions that cross multiple applications

Capable of working in a highly-collaborative environment alongside your teammates, engineers, Partner Engagement Managers, project managers, and operations teams

Articulate in communicating opportunities for continuous improvements to existing systems with a clear understanding of the impact on the business.

Always striving to develop and deploy in measured increments while taking responsibility for the quality of your work.

Required Skills

5+ years of expertise in Java, or similar object-oriented language, with confidence and experience in debugging and problem-solving skills

Deep understanding of cloud architecture and application deployment

Ability to build and support highly scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services

Comprehensive knowledge of architecting and maintaining large-scale distributed systems while handling high concurrency

Experience designing, implementing, and debugging systems that interact with large-sized data sets

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Bonus Skills

Knowledge of CDN architectures and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS)

Experience with multiple data stores and streaming services such as MySQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, or Redis

Familiarity with GraphQL or related graph modeling and querying concepts

Hands-on Big Data experience using Hive, Pig, Hadoop, or similar

Understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WebSockets
