What you’ll do: 


Design, develop, debug, and document reusable firmware for embedded systems. 


Work on multiple firmware layers, from low level drivers to application protocols. 


Develop support documentation and unit test cases. 


Optimize firmware performance and memory utilization. 


Collaborate with other firmware engineers and project leads in a hybrid work environment. 


Support hardware design and integration activities. 


Support cross functional engineering, manufacturing, and product test teams. 


 


What you need to succeed: 


Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 


Proven experience in firmware development for embedded systems. 


Strong proficiency in developing embedded software in C using industry standard tools like IDEs, version control, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. 


Sound engineering fundamentals, experiences with diverse technologies, and strong analytic and problem-solving abilities 


Passion for developing IoT solutions at the intersection of electronics hardware, mobile applications (iOS and Android), and cloud technologies. 


Preferred experience with Real Time Operating Systems   


Preferred experience with communication protocols and network stacks (Wi-Fi, BLE, and Thread)

What you’ll do:


Take full responsibility for designing, developing, testing, and documenting highly reusable firmware modules in C for maintaining and improving commercial electronic locks, readers, & credentials

What you need to succeed:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

Technical Expertise:

Strong foundation in engineering principles, with diverse experience and proven problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in developing embedded software in C, using industry-standard tools, IDEs, version control systems (e.g., Git), meters, and protocol analyzers. (5+ years of experience required)

Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). (2+ years of experience required)

Familiarity with secure communication protocols, encryption, and authentication methods.

Wireless Communication: Experience with wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Thread.

RFID Expertise: Familiarity with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies and relevant standards.

Networking Knowledge: Experience with TCP/IP networking is preferred but not required.

What you’ll do:   


Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Allegion’s wireless technology program in alignment with business objectives. 


Technologies: Expertise in wireless technologies and protocols in embedded systems (ultra-wideband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, etc.). 


Technical Oversight: Guide the design and implementation of wireless hardware and firmware, antenna systems, low-power architectures, and secure communication protocols. 


Algorithm Innovation: Oversee the development of advanced localization, intent detection, and sensor fusion algorithms; manage formal projects for custom tool creation. 


Data Management & Analysis: Establish robust data collection frameworks and pipelines to capture, process, and analyze sensor data from the field; leverage insights to optimize algorithm performance and validate system accuracy. 


Standards & Compliance: Experience in standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices; engage with standards bodies and consortia. 


Testing & Validation: Establish rigorous testing frameworks, including automated and real-world test environments; drive security, beta, and use-case validation initiatives. 


Infrastructure Development: Contribute to the design and operation of a lab, equipped for antenna simulation, power analysis, security testing, and automated validation. 


Continuous Improvement: Create knowledge-sharing platforms, feedback loops, and industry monitoring programs to ensure continuous innovation and alignment with market trends. 


Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business units to ensure wireless solutions address real-world challenges and deliver customer value. 


What you need to succeed: 


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field  


10+ years’ experience in wireless/RF technology development, with a strong background in UWB, Wi-Fi, radar, and/or secure communication systems 


Proven leadership experience in building and managing high-performing technical teams 


Expertise in RF hardware design, signal processing, embedded firmware and systems, and security protocols 


Experience with regulatory compliance, standards development, and industry engagement (e.g., FCC, IEEE, CSA, FiRa) 


Demonstrated ability to develop and implement R&D or technology innovation programs 


Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills 


Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware systems 


Basic knowledge of C, C++, and Python programming languages 


In office collaboration 4 days a week on average 


Preferred Qualifications & Experience 


Master’s Computer Eng, Electrical Eng, Computer Science, or related technical field 


Familiarity with AI/ML applications in signal processing or embedded systems 


Experience productizing a broad array of algorithm development 


Experience productizing radar and other sensor and perception algorithms on embedded platforms 


Experience working with agile development teams

Job Description:


Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions for new and existing Allegion products.

Work closely with product management and other functional stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them to elegant implementation.

Collaborate with global teams for product development

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Experience building native applications in Android

Expert-level experience with Java and Kotlin

Experience in developing apps that consume web services.

Experience in Reactive Programming using Kotlin Flow

Experience in Rapid Prototyping

Experience in Scrum and Agile Philosophy
