SQL Server & Oracle Database Administrator
Tetra Tech is a looking for a self-motivated, skilled Database Administrator. This position initially will require 70% SQL Server and 30% Oracle database administrative duties and will adjust over time. It requires someone who is a senior level SQL Server DBA and a mid-level Oracle DBA. This position would be the link between the application and business teams and will facilitate database migration, consolidation, and daily system support from various offices into Enterprise Database Farms.

Minimum Requirements
Candidate shall have bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or minimum four years of technical experience in database administration or other technical field. Also, required to have four or more years of database administration experience in Microsoft SQL; two years of Linux Oracle database administration. The Senior Data Base Administrator/Database Administrator is responsible for meeting business objectives by planning for and providing reliable, available

Essential Job Functions:

Database Implementation and Design
Design and implement development and production databases for maximal performance, scalability, flexibility, and reliability. Install and maintain DBMS software including patches, fixes and version upgrades. Work closely with developers to create and maintain schema objects, design and debug triggers, stored procedures and user defined functions.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning
Monitor and maintain maximum performance of databases. Identify poorly performing queries and work with development teams to tune accordingly. Monitor database logs for hardware, memory or disk space/ capacity issues and take appropriate action. Design and implement processes and procedures to reduce and eliminate database outages and downtime. Implement data backup and recovery procedures to prevent the loss of data from all types of failure. Document, plan and test Disaster Recovery procedures.

User and Data Security
Design, implement and maintain database security strategies that provide the appropriate level of security for users and applications.

Problem Resolution
Coordinates resolution of complex inter-domain technical problems. Resolves architectural issues and problems. Proactively identifies and resolves potential problems before they impact customers.

Configuration Management
For assigned technology domain configurations: analyzes technical requirements; identifies and evaluates alternatives to meet requirements; selects target solutions to meet requirements and obtains consensus and approval for target solutions; develops migration plans; and performs resource tuning.

Capacity Management
Gathers capacity requirements, including SLOs. Applies historical trends to capacity requirements, performs forecast analysis, and builds / updates capacity forecasts for assigned technology domains.

Customer Relationship Management
Demonstrates a high level of service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction. Builds and maintains relationships with peers. Understands and articulates data and database services, products, and value to business and application areas. Proactively works to solve business, application, and infrastructure problems. Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

The position is for a Senior Database Engineer who will work on Oracle databases in 10g and 11g running on Sun Solaris System. The candidates are expected to have in-depth knowledge of Oracle database administration on Sun Solaris platforms.

Must be well versed with performance tuning, database modelling and database upgrades Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep and administration of the production and test Oracle databases and Sun Solaris platforms and other layered products
- Perform Oracle upgrades and patch maintenance

Qualifications
